Ugh, Redman is controlling my parents somehow? That sucks. Though, now that I know that, it does explain their sudden interest in keeping me "under control." Up until the Owner paid them a visit, I've been mostly giving them the cold shoulder. I figured if they wanted me to only oscillate between school and my room, why should I spend any time with them. That kinda bit me in the ass, though, huh? Now that I've been sulking outside of my cell a bit, I probably would've noticed their odd behavior sooner. They're just kinda… I don't know. Empty? They've been emptier than normal, anyhow, like zombies.
How did this even happen to them? The tabletop nerds at school falling in with the forces of darkness kinda makes sense. My super skeptical parents who don't know the first thing about tarot, Ouija, magic—coffee? How would they even have gotten tangled up in all of this? I mean, I feel bad, I do. At the same time, we've never been all that close. I'm pretty sure my mom never really wanted a kid, and my dad might be closer to our dog than me. But it's not like there's animosity between us… just distance. But this? This is a whole different kind of distance. It's like they aren't even there.
Well, it's like they aren't there until I suggest leaving the house. Then it's yelling, dragging, and slamming. The Owner's probably right. Redman wants me… "safe." Gotta put that in quotes because I think we can all agree my safety doesn't come out of the kindness of his heart. What did he do to them? When did he do it to them? Probably when he kidnapped me, huh? But it's not the same as his usual Red Eye curse. Their eyes don't appear red or bloodshot except when viewed through my planchette or the Owner's Blighted Eye. It's probably another loophole thing. He shouldn't be able to inflict his Red Eye curse while in Umbra's service, as his Red Eye curse is a direct result of losing his game, which he shouldn’t be able to play… but, eh, you know him. The whole Dark Triad loves bending the rules in their favor.
