Clue 2: Now link that to 224's Trivia. He's right; it is linked to 'Coarse' and 'Course'...though only one of those, of course.
Clue 3: 'Ym yaw' is reversed. Do the same for a translation of one of these words in order to find an (English) word. This word can further be linked back to the riddle.
Answer and Explanation
Answer: Frog
Explanation: The riddle is “I hate to be blunt, but each must pay their own way. It might be rough, or even coarse, but that is the course if you plan not to croak, you must try to see things ym yaw, of course.” Another way of saying “pay their own way” is to Go Dutch. Coarse in Dutch is Grof, which when reversed sounds like Frog, an animal who croaks.
Summary of Receipt
224 solves the Dutch riddle and gets...nothing. However, there is another note from Nobody, who says that - while he couldn't actually steal anything from the Chessmen - he did make a donation to Toad Hall, helping it to rebuild. With that finally done, the three will sail back to the Critterfolk island, check up on Mr. Toad, and then leave Avalon.

i am so grateful loveland speaks like every possible language because i would have never been able to solve a dutch riddle. what the heck. well in any case we won the riddle contest and, true to his word, "nobody" gave us the treasure that was in the black and white keeps. it was nothing. nobody gave us nothing... and that makes as much sense as anything that has happened up to this point. great. we did get another note from "nobody" though this one said:
"Well done, well done! Wasn't that quite a bit of fun! While I could give you riddles until the sun does set, a winner doesn't like a sore whiner who owes them a debt. Sad to say the prize today is what I managed to steal from the Chessmen's lair, which is to say a load of air. Keeps keep things for Nobody to take, but in this situation, nothing was at stake. But do not despair for Nobody always plays fair. I've given a donation which I'd hardly call small to once prodigipus and ancestral Toad Hall. Until we meet again, my Queen, Frog, and Snake friends. Though I must warn you, that Wonderland is ever-changing and if you return things may have done some rearranging. Nobody can stick around forever they say, but even I might leave this place one day."
so. nothing. wooo. at least """nobody""" gave a donation to mr. toad and toad hall. i will be so very disappointed if this donation which nobody would call small turns out to just be NOTHING! i cant do any more of this word play and riddles and nonsense. im a silly gal, ill admit it, but this place is maybe a little too silly even for me. in any case the plan now is to sail our way back to the island of critterfolk to see if mr. toad got a generous donation from... nobody. regardless of if he did or didnt its time to for us to go home anyway.
