Summary of Receipt

422 leaves a receipt, transcribed by 1313. He mentions that it’s true that Fate is really the only one who wants to look forward in time - not even Belphegor, keeper of Time, or even the Bird want to do so. Anyway, the word ‘Debt’ was apparently enough to trigger Fate to take over, which led to 422 needing to explain it. From what little he knows, the CaD owes the Cold a bunch of debts, both spiritual and material. 161, 1313, and Manager 1 all rely on Fate due to their Second Vision; 53 and 2312 have joined the Zulus in allying with Secret and both 17 and 512 have had dealings with Secret in the past; Manager 4, Manager 5 and Manager 6 are all possible vessels for the Wicked; 71 and 323 have been aided by Phantom; and 422, 116, Manager 3 and Manager 7 all serve a ‘higher power’ (likely Bird). So those are a bunch of debts that the Cold can leverage against the CaD. And yet there’s a bigger Debt. One locked in ‘cosmic timeout’. And if the seals, such as opening Eden, break, the Debt will be unleashed, and the Sphere will end. 422 concludes that there really is no good option to prevent at least some kind of debt form triggering.

Now is not the time for silly typing gimmicks. That is why I have No. 1313 typing this for me. If you didn’t already see, she tried her own hand at writing a report, and it ended in a disastrous rhyming mess hijacked by none other than Fate. So, hopefully, she is able to take dictation without slipping into the sing-songy rhymey nonsense.

Okay, nonsense might be a stretch. Last time, what set her off was the sort of ethereal and vague concept we have all been fighting against. No, not Fate. I dare not speak its name and derail things again. Though, I find it interesting that is what set Fate off. The big D-word. In any case, No. 1313 is right of the cosmically inclined only Fate, and D-word cares to look ahead. Not even Belphegor, the simulacrum of the Ouroboros and basically the keeper of time cares to look ahead. Not even BIRD looks ahead. He could, of course, but he prefers to keep things a surprise.

So what is the D-word? Why is it coming due? All great questions and I have no good answers. I know this much. On one scale, the Cafe and Diner owe the Cold Elders a lot both materially and spiritually. Not pointing tails here, but No. 161, No. 1313, and No. 1 have all taken tips from Fate, and tips don’t come free. If it wasn’t BLATANTLY obvious, those goofballs No. 53 and No. 2312 have fallen in with Secret. No. 512 also owes a weird d-word to Secret. Oh, and No. 17 kind of sold his soul to Secret long ago. Of course, by now, you should know No. 4, 5, and 6 are ind-worded and somewhat cursed by the Wicked. No. 71 and No. 323 have both had doors opened by the mysterious Phantom. And, No. 3, No. 7, No. 116, and myself serve a higher power.

However, there is another more singular and, well, concise D-word. The big D-word. The D-word that everyone wants to avoid, even Fate. However, for Fate’s plans to work, the D-word is sort of important. And the D-word is currently locked up in cosmic timeout. However, if Fate’s plans are realized, the seals will break, and the D-word will be unleashed, causing an end to everything. Put a question mark after that one. Because I don’t actually know if it would be the end to everything or just another new beginning. The point is, with Eden opening back up, I am in deep, DEEP trouble. So… sure, if we can avoid opening Eden, great. But I also don’t want No. 4 to die. And I don’t want anyone to have to drink that toxic sludge. I guess you can’t win everything, though, and one way or another, a D-word must come due.
