Summary of Receipt
17 confirms the identities of the two people in the portrait: Eve and the Devil. He also mentions that Eve had three husbands, the other two being Adam and Lilith. Of the three marriages, the children between Eve and the Devil were the Seven Princes, and the children between Eve and Adam were Cain (the first Elder and former ruler of the Hauntaurskald, Abel, and Seth). The latter two are likely still in Eden. Any children between Eve and Lilith aren’t mentioned.

I had a sneaking suspicion, but I had to be certain first, eh? After extensively checking my Apocrypha, I feel confident enough to say that our hazel-eyed woman from the House of Hamilton is, of course, none other than Lady Eve of Eden. Keep in mind, no one has seen her in a very, VERY, long time. So, at best, this is a guess based on an eons-long game of telephone. Though, after seeing her in such detail for the first time, I have no doubt in my mind. She looks just like Lucifer. Just like Julia.
Now, this is relatively unsurprising in the grand scheme of things. The Dark Watchers have been watching for as long as they could watch. I am sure they have seen Eve before, and this portrait is some extension of their powers. What does the portrait mean? Well, that’s always up to interpretation. The Dark Watchers rarely spell things out clearly. So, what about the other details then? Well… there is another in the portrait. Though this is a face, I recognize well. It is none other than the Devil himself, of course. In his more human form, anyway. One of Eve’s husbands. It is still a surprise to some that they were ever together, but no one seems to bat an eye at Lilith and Adam. Quite the double standard if you ask me.
Of course, I cannot speak on their dynamic as I was quite obviously not there. I am not that old. Though there are some concrete details passed down through the ages. Lucifer, Mammon, Satan, Belphegor, Beelzebub, Leviathan, and Asmodeus are, of course, the children of Eve and the Devil. Cain, Abel, and Seth (not our Seth, obviously) were the children of Eve and Adam. And of those three, Cain is an Elder, possibly the first Mortal to become an Elder. Cain is also the only child to be in the Flipside, Otherside, or otherwise our Cycle. Strange, though many scholars of esotericism assume Abel and Seth reside in Eden still. I suppose, should we end up opening Eden once more, we can put that theory to the test, eh?
