Clue

Hover over the clues if you require!
Clue 1: The word 'year' is rather odd, isn't it? Any word in the next sentence that goes with it?
Clue 2: A leap year in which you'd 'see II for the first time'.
Clue 3: What kind of people, except the Last Cafe, put Roman numerals after their names?
Clue 4: It's within the 1900s. Which year did 'II' ascend the throne?

Answer and Explanation

Answer: 1952
Explanation: The bolded words, when rearranged, spells “leap year II for the first time”. Looking through the global events and leaders, you get Elizabeth II, 1952.

Summary of Receipt

611 discovers the general location of Abner’s stone. Hopefully, even bringing him near it should help him remember where it is, since he’s one of the best Augurs alive. Also, he’s pretty fixated on the whole ‘archon’ thing, which 611 suspects to either be aliens or something else entirely.

I think I’ve cracked it!

“Take a leap and look to the stars. There you’ll see II for the first time. Under the cradle of the Archons.”

Passaic, New Jersey, July 1952. That’s where the stone is hidden! Not, like, in time. Sorry, that was probably confusing. I mean, in July 1952, there was a UFO sighting in Passaic, New Jersey. 1952 was a LEAP year, and it was also the year in which Elizbeth the II took the throne. I’m guessing “Archons” is like aliens, and the cradle is their ship. Now I see where No. 2 gets his weirdness from. It’s genetic. Abner seems… fixated on the concept of “Archons,” and I’m not entirely sure if he’s talking about the gnostic thing or the Greek thing, or maybe even just the butterfly thing. Who knows? As far as I can tell, it’s not the name of a constellation or a star.

So, I am pretty sure that Abner Langley’s stone is buried in George Stock’s yard, where he took his somewhat famous UFO photos. Unfortunately, I have not had the best of luck nailing down the exact spot by searching on the internet. However, Passaic, NJ, is not terribly big. I’m sure we could find it in a few days if we gathered up the team. I am a little worried that it’ll lead to another riddle once we get there because that seems like something Abner would’ve done.

Even if there are more clues, I’m hoping just being near the stone should help Abner remember where it is. From what I’ve heard, he’s supposed to be an Augur like No. 1, No. 6, No. 1313, and No. 161. Not only that, but he’s also allegedly one of the best Augurs currently alive in the Flipside. I guess the better at second sighting things you get, the weirder you get. I mean, No. 1313 already speaks in rhymes, and No. 161… well, she’s ours, and that’s what matters.
