Summary of Receipt

Theo’s theory is confirmed. Miss. Umbra is working with the Morbid King. He’s been stalking the CaD while they search for the Abraxas Stones. However, he was the reason for Mammon’s switch to being helpful. In other words, Umbra, despite working for the Morbid King, is attempting to stall the destruction of the Cimmerian Woods and the invasion of the Necropolis - even the Last Cafe is either silent on the matter or simply don’t know why Umbra’s doing this.

Well, it is as we feared. While I joined the TriCaD and No. 17 in the Infernus, I saw something, no someone, rather Dark. Umbra. And, if our sources are to be believed, Umbra has also been seen lurking around Morningstar and Necropolis as well. The Morbid King’s right-hand man has been following the Cafe and Diner around as we search for the Abraxas Stones. On the surface, I would tend to believe that Umbra is searching for a way to stop us from using the Abraxas Stones to subdue Bartholomew Langley—allowing the Morbid King to advance on the Spire once again.

However, nothing is ever that simple in the shadows. I saw Umbra whispering into Mammon’s ear. And whatever he said caused Mammon to suddenly change from hostile to helpful. In fact, Mammon led us right to Jethro and Lazarus Langley and their Abraxas Stones. Why would the Morbid King want us to stop Bartholomew? It is still unclear how he came to be in the Cimmerian Woods from the Everwoods in Esterskald. At first, we had assumed it was another of Dover’s dimensional shifts. Though, this cannot be. As this isn’t a Bartholomew Langley from another cycle. Our second assumption was that the Morbid King had found a way to bring him to Amaymon. It’s well within his skill set. But if Umbra isn’t attempting to hinder our progress, could this also not be the case?

Something isn’t right. I know that much. No. I and II are, as usual, unhelpful. No. VI and VII are as lost as I am. And as for No. IV and V… well. No. IV has confided in me that Umbra’s presence and activity, while strange, are not entirely unexpected. Though he would not elaborate further. And as for No. V? Getting him to speak on anything is like drawing blood from a stone. However, his laugh was knowing enough. All he said to me was that it looked like he still had some work to do. I wish I had more I could share with the rest of you. Hopefully No. IV or V decides it is pertinent to share their thinking with the rest of us.

In any case, Umbra is around. Stick to the light and stay out of the shadows.
