ABRIDGED HISTORY CASE NO. 1

Prior to meeting with her investor, J.L. had done quite a bit of research into the history of the Cafe and Diner. She had certainly stumbled upon quite the secret. However, I feel she only scratched the surface of what the Cafe and Diner was. Naturally, the data stored in the CaDCom Database has been sectioned off and encrypted using various methods, making it hard to piece together a comprehensive history of those that came before us. As mentioned, I used to work for a Cafe and Diner myself, so I feel it is only right to share what I know of its history with all of you. Perhaps it can illuminate what the Cafe and Diner stands for.

The Cafe and Diner officially opened on August *th, 1992, near Long Beach, California. Though the creation of the Cafe and Diner truly began four years earlier in 19**. In truth, I suppose the idea for the Cafe started even earlier than that, though things get "fuzzy" beyond the 4th of August, so I'll stick to what I know of 19**. It was a joint venture by four individuals: The Original Owner, his partner, his closest associate, and the number himself—*.

To shed some light on the Cafe's true intentions, it is important to know that the Original Owner's partner was none other than Lucifer, the Demon Prince of Pride. Yes, the Cafe and Diner has always been an organization closer aligned to the Otherside than the Flipside. It is why we strived to send cryptids back to their home and to keep demons from meddling with the balance of the Flipside. Lucifer is neither good nor evil, the same as all mortals, I suppose. But know that her intentions with the Cafe and Diner were always good.

I suspect that the Cafe and Diner would've opened earlier, in 19**, if it hadn't been for his mentor's tragic and sudden death. His death thrust the Original Owner into some very dark and wicked places, perhaps because he felt he could have saved him. Regardless, it would take him four years to officially open the Cafe and Diner. However, the Original Owner would have to deal with loss once again, as death and tragedy seemed to cling to him wherever he went as if it was a curse of Fate.
