Well, I’ve done all the possible experiments I could think of on Indrid Cold’s 8-Ball. By all accounts, it is a regular 1988 Magic 8-Ball. It has a twenty-sided die that reads the standard ten affirmative answers, five uncertain answers, and five negative answers. In no way does it show any signs of magical influence or eldritch connections. It would be, of course, unlikely that there is a secret 21st side on the die that reads “Bingo” for numerous reasons. Though, admittedly, when the 8-Ball was connected to Indrid Cold, the die was able to display any number of thoughts he had. But Indrid Cold is no more. Fate is dead. It’s just an 8-Ball.

Perhaps Capgras was merely seeing things? We just experienced a rather stressful event, and I know he hasn’t been sleeping well before or after it. Hallucinations are a common symptom of sleep deprivation. Additionally, his unique connection to the last of the Cold, Secret, might be warping his sense of reality. It is very possible that Secret was merely attempting to communicate to Capgras through a distorted vision of the 8-Ball? It could also be the work of a reality-warping cryptid or demon, such as Dover. It would be a rather nasty prank to pull, but Dover is mischievous by his very nature.

In any case, I can guarantee the 8-Ball is inert and is nothing more than a sphere of plastic filled with dark blue alcohol and a 20-sided die. So, that brings us to the elephant in the room: should it be given to the Cult of Personality as a sign of good faith? While it is entirely devoid of any magic, it was still, at one time, a very dangerous object. Furthermore, Unidentified Cult Leader No. 4 is attempting to draw out certain hidden magical forces, which this 8-Ball could still accelerate somehow. It’s not my choice to make… *though*… I don’t necessarily know if the Shakas are currently on the same page to make it themselves.
