Summary of Receipt

26 and 71 find Mrs. Williams, but are interrupted by Mrs. Middletown - last seen stopping Pleasant during Andrews' resealing. Middletown seems to have been consuming the powers of other cryptids, which has unfortunate implications regarding Miss. Andrews. For now, they can only hope that Pleasant and Middletown fight it out for now, since they can't spare the manpower what with Satan re-opening the Gates to Hell.

RECEIPT #004
DATE: 1/1E/96
EMPLOYEE #71

#26 and I successfully tracked down Mrs. Williams, the Beast of Teton River. Before we were able to capture the creature, Mrs. Middletown swooped in and seemingly consumed the cryptid gaining its powers and form. From what we can surmise, the Snallygaster is more than likely acting against the interests of its half-sibling, the Mothman. So… perhaps the best approach is to treat the friend of our friend as an ally. At least until we know more about what the Snallygaster is actually attempting to do. It’s a shame Hamilton is dead, as it seems the Hotbed is going to hell in a handbasket without him. Ah, well.

S.O.T.

#26: W-Wait, where’d the Terror go? It was just there!

#71: Something isn’t right. [#26], get back.

[#71 cast a sigil of detection revealing a hidden Mrs. Middletown]

#71: Snallygaster.

Mrs. Middletown: Ah, [#71]. You’re a bit far from the Cafe, aren’t you?

#71: What did you do to the cryptid?

Mrs. Middletown: I took care of it.

#71: How? What did you do specifically?

Mrs. Middletown: Why does it concern you?

#71: We came here to send that cryptid home.

Mrs. Middletown: Is that so? What, was it important to you?

#71: Not especially so, but it is what we do.

Mrs. Middletown: Well, I can assure you that it won’t be bothering any more humans.

#71: But what did you do, Snally?

[Mrs. Middletown’s form rapidly shifted as it grew to the size of a shire horse, and its face became increasingly feral as it hunched over onto its hind legs. #71 quickly drew a seven-pointed star in the dirt around himself and #26. Mrs. Middletown attempted to lunge at the Cafe employees before being repelled.]

Mrs. Middletown: Tch. You aren’t worth it.

[Mrs. Middletown retreated into the trees, moving like an agile monkey betraying the massive size of its current form.]

#26: Well… that can’t be good.

#71: No. No, it is not. And if the Snallygaster is somehow… absorbing the powers of other cryptids…

#26: The Death Wyrm.

#71: The Death Wyrm.

#26: What should we do, [#71]?

#71: Hope that the Snallygaster takes out the Mothman, I suppose. It would certainly save us the trouble. Otherwise, there isn’t much we can do about their familial drama. Not while Satan is attempting to tear open the Gates to Hell.
