Summary of Receipt

The Manager complains (again) about his brother, Jordan Myerscough, the head of IRIS. He wants the CaD to assemble the Mechanism, safeguard it from the Dark, and then return it to Nom de Plume. Anyway, the Mechanism, also known as the Antikythera Mechanism, is basically a ‘celestial GPS’ that can allow you to search for anything. Such as the Enochian Bible. Which would be really useful for both the CaD and the Dark. Basically, the Manager’s suggesting that they should use the Mechanism and locate the Enochian Bible before the Dark does instead of just fixing it and keeping it safe.

Of course. Of bloody course. Right, well, I had that rin tin tin with me older brother. And get this, he wants us, the Cafe and Diner, to find the remaining pieces of this Mechanism, assemble it, keep it away from the Dark at all costs, and then hammer and tack it over to the Society when they've deemed it safe as Robinson Crusoe. Can you Adam ‘n Eve that?! Well, I certainly can. Course he wants me to do all the work while he sits back sippin' his earl grey flippin' a Jackdaw and Rook. The absolute cobbler’s awl on him to ask me to do this for him and his lil’ book rub-a-dub-dub. It's practically infuriatin’.

So, I think we should do it, yeah? He told me every little detail I needed to know about how to find the pieces and put them back together. So, let's do it. Let's get this bleedin’ Mechanism. Of course, finders' keepers, choice? Think about it… if we kept the Mechanism, we could use it to find the Enochian Bible before Umbra could even get a whiff of it. Hell, we could use the Mechanism to find ‘is dingy little Dim Den and kick his arse proper. At least, that's how I understand it to work.

See, this bit of kit everyone's so worked up over is a device known as the Antikythera Mechanism. Bit of mouthful, innit? Suppose that's why everyone just calls it the Mechanism. What it's supposed to do, chicken pen built and sold, is search for anything at all using celestial information. It's like GPS, but on a universal scale, choice? So if the Enochian Bible is somewhere like the Topside, this Mechanism would be able to find it and tell us how to get there. It works for anything past, present, future, or otherwise. Real neat device. So why should the Society have it? Those bookworms would just stash it away somewhere, only for it to be ‘alf inched later.
