KOR08

Summary of Receipt

Capgras bumps the Kings of Roses up to the Zulus' highest priority with how much Rune knows. He also suggests forming an alliance with Mrs. Tudor, the ousted head of the Kings of Roses, who may have a plan for revenge - and more knowledge on the group than them. He nominates the Pathologist to seek her out, since he's gone many times to Vile City.

Subject: Kings Cult

Ugh. Well, this is a mess of a mess. It turns out that Rune, head of the Kings of Roses cult, knows a good deal more than she should of. She’s also a she, not a he, as it turns out. Old friend. Makes things not only more complicated but more personal as well, which… sucks. Also, turns out that our predecessor considered her for our role, and she turned it down. Not sure how I feel about being a second choice, but hey, that’s how it goes. In any case, the Kings of Roses are our top priority at the moment because we can’t be entirely sure what secrets Rune knows and how dangerous that might be.

We have a few ideas on how to deal with Rune, though none of them are real winners yet. Rune has some special circumstances that make her especially tricky to deal with. Plus, she’s backed up by the entirety of the Kings, which by my estimates, is about 30-strong. One potential option I haven’t seen anyone bring up yet is reaching out to the former head of the Kings of Roses, the lovely and dangerous Mrs. Tudor. I’m sure she’s been stewing on her own plans for revenge, and maybe we can compare notes and maybe even team up with her.

Of course, that would require a trip to Bathory, which I’m not too excited to undertake. Speaking of undertaking, the Pathologist has spent considerable time in Bathory and the neighboring districts of Vile, right? Maybe he’d like to go. Hint, hint. Could be nice. Hint, hint. Though whoever does end up going needs to keep things on the usual hush-hush. I’m sure Rune has eyes and ears all over Vile. There is also a good chance Mary is no longer at her usual residence after the coup—so we need discretion AND information.
