Summary of Receipt

The plan was an absolute failure, and also worked out perfectly. Firstly, the cultists very much noticed that the new Livingstone was identical to the Arch-Firestone who was there literally the day before, so they captured 53 and tortured him. 1313 - who, along with 44, had been 'invited' to watch - decided to try 'torturing' him as well, but in reality actually unlocked the bindings holding 53. So then when 53 'broke', the other cultists took the two teenagers out in case the secrets mentioned were classified. After which 53 promptly beat the cultists up, stole the Blight Runes, swapped them with fake ones, and the three escaped. Somehow.

That had to be the single worst plan I have ever witnessed. If I ever work with #53 again, we need to set the ground rule that we discuss all plans before making ANY decisions. The worst part? It all worked out. Just what #53 and #1313 needed, even more, swollen heads.

So, I think you can imagine that the cult almost immediately recognized the mysterious Livingstone left at their door as the Arch-Firestone, who was just there less than 24 hours ago. So, they took #53 in and immediately tortured him for information. Thankfully they had the Sheep sit in on the torture, probably for some sort of psychological effect to dissuade us from leaving or betraying the cult. It didn’t take long before #1313 wanted to partake in the torture. At the time, I didn’t think she even had a plan and that she just wanted to smack #53 around for a bit. But, of course, I should give her a little more credit as she was twisting #53’s arms; she was actually unlocking his bindings. Once #53 realized he was freed, he “broke” and was ready to divulge all information, prompting the higher-ups to lead the sheep out in case #53’s information was appropriate for our neophyte ears.

I’ll give you one guess who actually came out of the integration room. If you said Arch-Firestone Xanthic Bee, you’d be, unfortunately, correct. #53 INSISTED on doing a “double-jeopardy” because “they would never expect him to try it again.” What makes me mad is that it worked. I assume if we had stuck around for even a few more minutes, all three of us would have been set on fire to appease the Wicked or whatever they believe in. I will give #53 a little credit for thinking about stashing a set of fake Runes to swap the real ones with. While I doubt that alone will be enough to take the heat off of the three strangers who infiltrated their compound, it should at least keep the suspicion off of our true motive. In any case, we have the Blight Runes, and we’re headed home. Hopefully, Mr. White can uphold his end of the bargain.
