Clue 1: What flies 'spontaneously generate', according to FSTF09?
Clue 2: Where are they found?
Clue 3: Remember, you're searching for a cryptid, not just any random black fly.
Answer and Explanation
Answer: Dundas Island
Explanation: In C-FSTF09, 134 says that spontaneous generation would lead to blackflies. There's a blackfly cryptid, the 'Dundas Island Blackfly', or the 'Flesh-Eating Blackfly'.
Summary of Receipt
125 manages to get Stevens to eat, allowing 134 to observe how the flies swarm the dead's corpses and devour their souls. When 224 enhanced the flies' soul-eating capabilities, they destabilised and promptly exploded from an overload of souls consumed. Interestingly, this also hurt Mrs. Stevens. As such, this implies that 'Mr. Diptera' has brought many Esterskaldian cryptids back to life and is using them to produce these soul-eating flies. 134 suggests observing what happens when the flies themselves die.

Absolutely fascinating. 125 managed to get the beast to eat this morning, and just as 26 described, after consuming a few shrews, we were absolutely inundated with flies! They poured out of Mrs. Stevens and, just as the previous flies had done, were rather aggressive and prone to “biting.” Though they aren’t actually biting! It would seem they are more so “zapping.” It’s sort of like an electric discharge, except it isn’t electricity. It’s pure soul. Not to worry—I doubt these flies are actually doing any damage to our souls. But it would seem when they have freshly “consumed” the soul of the shrews, they have such an excess of stored soul that it can rub off on our still very much in-use souls.
Of course, this is all still very speculative. Souls are quite enigmatic things, after all. But 224 was able to “enhance” whatever it was the flies were doing to eat at the passing shrew souls, which caused quite a violent reaction. In whatever way the flies are managing to eat at souls, it is very precise, and even the slightest increase in their capabilities leads to rapid destabilization and an explosion of the flies. Moreover, it seemed that when the flies exploded due to an overload of souls, it hurt Mrs. Stevens in some sort of symbiotic relationship.
Case closed then, isn’t it? The flies are indeed directly related to Mrs. Stevens. Ah, but not so fast. The same was happening to Mrs. Honey and various other cryptids once thought slain. We are getting closer, however. We now know that this “Mr. Diptera,” whatever or whoever it is, has somehow resurrected cryptids and is using them to create strange soul-eating flies. Now we just need to find out who or what is causing this morbid phenomenon. I believe we now just need to wait and see what happens when some of the flies expire.
