We were too late. Ursula’s house has been reduced to smoldering rubble. From what the local fire department told us, it seems like it was an electrical fire. That coffee’s a bit too bitter for us. No. 3 has ordered a shot of Whiskey which should be here soon. Maybe after a quick drink, we’ll have a better idea of what really happened here. In any case, as far as any of us can tell, Ursula wasn’t home. If she was, well, she’s nothing more than ash now. There’s also no sign of any special stones worth pulling out of the charred remains of Ursula’s home.
We’ll spend the rest of the day checking around Salem for any sign of Ursula. Some local tourists claim to have seen Ursula hanging around the nearby cemetery quite often. There’s also a cafe nearby that she frequents. It’s not our competitor, just a regular tourist cafe… so far as we know. No. 3 and No. 7 will be checking out the cafe while we check the cemetery. We’re also on high alert for Miss. Umbra, or anyone who might look like her.
We need to be ready to accept the worst-case scenario that M.K. has gotten to Ursula before us. However, I’m hoping that the fire is a sign of resistance and that if M.K. did get to Ursula first, she at least didn’t go willingly. Though, assuming we can’t find Ursula here, we need to figure out another way to track her down. I’m sure some of the “Last Cafe” people have some ideas they have yet to share with us about that. They always have a dozen options that they haven’t told the rest of us about because it would be “dangerous.” Whatever.
