Summary of Receipt

Malachi appears out of nowhere and collapses in a catatonic state. 116 asks Abner or Solomon to head over and talk to him, since there’s no way they’ll be able to get his stone forcefully. Malachi’s an unimaginably strong magic-user.

Malachi just appeared out of the dang blue. Weird kid. Very weird kid. And, yes, he’s a kid, or at least he sure looks like a kid. Now, I know orderin’ sandwich folks don’t tend to age as fast as us regulars, but this is mighty strange. I reckoned Malachi would be around the same age looks-wise as Solomon, Abner, or No. 26 and 44, what have you. But this kid looks no older than 13. I blame lazy Ms. Snake Oil. This reeks of her meddlin’. Not sure why she’d keep Malachi this young, though. Unless… well, now that might be an interestin’ hypothesis. What if Malachi spends his time sippin’ up Snake Oil himself? It’d certainly explain why he’s been so hard to track down, even for No. II.

In any case, Malachi won’t give me his stone. He won’t give any of us his stone. The kid’s practically catatonic, what have you. I’m not sure if this is his usual demeanor, but he seems particularly rattled up over his dad being used as a weapon. Or, at least, that’s what I’ve gathered from my cowboy intuition. I’m right good at these kinds of things. See, Malachi hasn’t said much at all to us, just mumbling about different types of trees and how we’re all going to die, I reckon. See, I think the trees are in reference to his dad because of the whole, you know, bonk.

Even if I could get him to open up, we ain’t getting this stone from him. Not a chance in hell. And he might look young, but I know to not mess with a haberdasher of his sort. I reckon Solomon or Abner will have to come and convince him to give it to us, as I don’t think any of us strangers will convince him. Heck, I don’t even know if Solomon could get it from him at this rate. Hopefully, Solomon has some sort of contingency-stone-retrieval type plan set up. Knowin’ him, I wouldn’t doubt it. But then what would be the point of us goin’ ‘round to get all these stones in the first place?

Eh, I’ll keep y’all updated
