Summary of Receipt

V explains why exactly he allowed 71 to die - either she died or everyone would. It was necessary to buy even a few months of time to plan how to settle their Debt. Now, there’s an issue. The Ouroboros is still where it’s supposed to be, and so time flows normally. If Eden were to return and replace the Ouroboros, things would probably go horrendously out of control, the Devil would return, and in comes the 17th Sphere. Thankfully, almost everyone who’s able to shift Eden into the Sphere - like Eve - is aware of this, and Eve probably has another way to return. V would probably just rewrite the entire universe, but the question is what Eve has planned.

I feel like no one gets what I’m trying to do anymore. Yes, I set Victoria up to die. Sue me. Would you rather have Victoria dead or everyone dead? As it turns out, all this Apocalypse business is a zero-sum game after all. Either we win, or Fate wins. And, yes, unfortunately, Victoria had to die as she did for us to get another few months to figure out how exactly to pay this Debt. THE DEBT. All debts. What does it matter? Though we are now on borrowed time, that is certain. Eden has returned. Is returning. Whatever the semantics of it are.

As long as the Ouroboros exists, Eden can’t occupy the same space. As long as the Ouroboros exists, we exist, and time exists. I’m not saying that if Eden were to replace the Ouroboros, all time would stop… but it would probably spin wildly out of control. It would be utter chaos. Not to mention such an event would likely crack the Gates of Hell; out comes The Devil, and we have to start back at square one. Not ideal. Luckily, we all know this. By “we,” I mean the people who could reasonably put Eden back into the Sphere. To that end… I doubt Eve would just plop Eden back into place. Plus, I don’t think she and the Devil are on the best terms. I could be wrong. I’m not a marriage counselor.

However, Eve has tasted freedom, and nothing will stop her from securing it. So, the question becomes: how does one put Eden back into the Sphere without overwriting the Ouroboros? If it was my task, I’d simply rewrite the universe itself. Hell, it’s just a stone’s throw away from being possible. If not probable. I think we’ve been giving Fate far too much credit lately. Fate is undoubtedly a cunning adversary, but he has nothing on a wife twice scorned.
