It would seem that the Cafe and Diner in Long Beach have been, hm, what’s the best way to put it... invited? We have been invited to serve a new customer. As far as I know, and I have been loosely keeping up with Cafe affairs since ‘95, this customer is entirely new to our establishment. Though, she has been interested in a reservation for quite some time now. Of course, you must be curious about a customer that books their own reservation. We received a rather fiery “voice mail” which more or less said:

“Throw out the coffee

And let us sleep the quiet sleep

Cut the caffeine with blood and blood alone

Cafe and Diner below my cloven hoofed feet

Rest your eyes in fire and brimstone

He shall rise again

Sleep now and for forever

Or pay your final debt”

I say “more or less” because it was in Portuguese, e meu português está enferrujado. Now, obviously, I would think this “Miss. Cece” will need a table and a strong cup of coffee. My goodness, I’d hate for her to fall asleep on the job! Though my beloved 26 has confirmed that she has been waiting very patiently above us. However, like all of our other “fire and brimstone” type customers, she’ll be more than happy to wait for her order. I’d hate to serve her a rushed meal; that’d surely paint a sour picture, wouldn’t it?

Miss. Cece marks our thirteenth customer to attempt to pay in blood. I would hope she knows we take cash and most major credit cards. But seeing as she is our thirteenth, well gracious sakes, it would seem we’ve reached the end of the line. Of course, we’ve dealt with our fair share of her kind already, but I can only imagine Miss. Cece will be making one big final move. Usually, I’d have some advice to lend, but I am unfamiliar with her terms of engagement. I suppose, get to bed early and be on your best behavior? Though, I would hope you all have already been doing that.
