Well, that worked like a charm now, didn’t it? Mrs. Umbra is a rather tricky customer to deal with, but she has one undeniable weakness, she can’t enjoy her coffee pitch black. The Owner and I set a little “trap,” I suppose you could call it, for Mrs. Umbra.

She came into the Cafe once more to pester the Owner while he tried to catch some shut-eye. Once she was in the room, ready to whisper her complaints in his ear, we shut off the lights. So the backroom is currently off-limits as Mrs. Umbra is enjoying the ambiance and would like to remain undisturbed. This is far from a long-term solution, as I’m sure Mrs. Aka will be in very soon to rescue her. Or Mrs. Pleasant. Or both.

We’re not turning on the neons just yet, as I plan to let her go before we close up. I just want to speak with her first. See just how chatty she can be with the right persuasions. If she talks, wonderful. If she doesn’t, oh well, we’ll make it clear she’s not welcome here. In any case, there is no point keeping her bottled up like this. It wouldn’t last for long, even if we wanted it to. If there is a follow-up report, you can assume she has something of interest to say. If not, I’ll most likely close out this tab once the dust has settled and the lights are back on.
