Our meeting with the grand and vainglorious Purson went rather well, I’d say. Thankfully the Langleys are quite well known in the shimmering city of Aurora. For that matter, very few who make it to Morningstar stay out of public affairs. They all have this desire to do and be the best, eh? Dreadfully exhausting work. However, as we assumed, it would seem that there are only two known Langleys here in Morningstar: Antionette and Enoch Langley. We are on our way to meet with them now, and hopefully, they still have their stones even in death.
S.O.T.
Purson: AH! The Cafe and Diner! I heard you were stopping by! What brings you to the glorious and splendorous city of light of her Lady Lucifer?
No. 17: We are looking for a set of [Magic] Stones, held by the Langleys.
Purson: [Magic] Stones, eh? Well, you are in luck. We have two Langley’s right here! Antoinette Marie Langley and Enoch Barnabas Langley. They are in the Candescent Quarter. [Magic] Stones, though… rather powerful, especially in a set. What are you using them for [No. 17]?
No. 17: Ah, nothing good as you can imagine. It is another reason we have come to speak with you, vieil ami. Eve has returned.
Purson: EVE? The wretched widow returned?
No. 17: In part, yes.
Purson: So the stones are to contain her?
No. 17: It’s never that simple. The stones are to contain a different problem. Though we wanted you to be aware that Eve could, and probably will, pay you a visit if she can manage a corporal form.
Purson: Ha! The widow doesn’t frighten me.
No. 17: I wish I could say the same.
Purson: Now, [No. 17] are you going to introduce me to your associates?
No. 17: Ah, how terribly rude of me. [No. 26 and No. 44] they are relatively new hires, but their children have worked for the Cafe for a few decades. This is [No. 323] current mortal owner of the House of Solomon. And [No. 7] a manager of the Cafe.
Purson: Just a manager?
No. 17: Sure, why not?
Purson: It Seems… odd that you’d bring such MIGHTY acquaintances to the Throne of Dawn. And… a manager.
No. 7: You can tell him.
No. 17: Oh? Are you sure?
No. 7: We can trust him, right?
No. 17: We can’t trust anyone. But I suppose it is only Purson. My dear companion, you must keep this under your whiskers, yes?
Purson: You have my word.
No. 17: This is [No. 7] the daughter of Lady Lucifer.
Purson: You lie.
No. 17: Often.
Purson: I can’t believe it! Lucifer had a daughter! Of course! How could I have been so blind! You look just like her! This is terrific news! Are you here to claim the Throne?
No. 7: Uh-
No. 17: [No. 7] is just here in case we needed Morningstar blood to save our hides, should something go terribly wrong. Though, I suppose it is a possibility, is it not?
No. 7: Well-
No. 44: Surly we should finish our current business?
No. 17: Ah, as always [No. 44] is correct.
Purson: I would still run things as Regent, but it would be stupendous to have a Morningstar back on the Throne.
No. 7: I-I’d have to think about it. I have a lot of… attachments in the Flipside.
Purson: Ah, of course. Though, this is your home by birthright. Whatever, or whoever, you are attached to can certainly come with you.
No. 7: I’ll think about it. And I will. I promise. But [No. 44] is right. Right now, we need to focus on the order at hand.
