Of course… that is the power of the Veil of Cassandra, isn’t it? To make the truth seem unbelievable. I couldn’t shake the thought of the Open Doors Church resurrecting Madeline as a real possibility. So, I had #62 analyze the CaDCom transcription logs in as much detail as she possibly could, and it would seem that they have not been altered in any traceable way. What #35 said was recorded accurately. And if that is the case, we must assume that what #35 said was the truth—even if we wish not to believe it. So, instead of turning a blind eye to the warnings of Cassandra, we should, at the very least, humor the possibility.
And should resurrecting Madeline truly be their sinister aim this week, we have no choice but to stop them. Both out of respect for Madeline—and fear of her powers. The Pit is vast and dark. It draws all into its fathomless depths, does it not? In the wrong hands, Madeline’s powers could act as a catalyst for a new “dark age” in Long Beach. Hell, in the right hands, it almost did the same in the Hot Bed. I shudder to think what Padre Santos has in mind for her resurrected corpse.
Though… that does bring up the challenge of resurrecting her. She suffered a “void” death, at least by my understanding. Neither pure nor wicked enough for Morningstar or Hauntaurskald. And she did not die by an act of nature nor naus, so Esterskald and Mayda would be out as well. The obvious option for her soul would then be the same as so many others—the Amaymon. However… it is the manner in which she died that is… unique. No. Unique sounds too pleasant. Perverse. And in that corrupted death, her soul likely remains in its own special limbo of sorts. And that is just one half of the necrotic equation—her body didn’t fare much better.
