WMO01 (Oct 5, 1988)
Summary of Receipt
Mr. Octo enters the Cafe and asks to be employed. He might have frost-related powers or, more likely, is linked to Indrid Cold, and possibly something about a shareholder - of the Mantle of 8, probably. He was eager to get the CaD running, and Manager 646 is optimistic that they can even rival Astoria 23, a US-government-funded organisation similar to the CaD.

RECEIPT NOTES:
Who could have guessed? Another unexpected turn of events. It would seem at this point I have to fully expect the unexpected. We had a guest come into the Cafe and Diner, which is strange considering we are not yet open for business. So I must conclude that our reputation precedes us. Exceptionally so. Not only did we have a guest come by, but they also weren’t even looking for coffee… no, they were looking for employment.
Strange fellow. Tall, nondescript, friendly. Not at all who he seems to be. He called himself Mr. Octo. Not sure if that is his real name or simply an alias, but in any case, he seemed very interested in our operations. Not only that, he seemed more than eager to help us get the Cafe and Diner going. I would say he tipped his hand a little too much, but I feel like with his knowledge, along with our collective knowledge, we could rival even the Lighthouse’s coffee game.
Of course, as the three of us have discussed many times, taking on new hires before our debts are fully paid and our foundations are laid, well, that could pose an unnecessary amount of risk to us. However… Perhaps this Barista might just prove the exception. Then again, perhaps I am playing with fire. Or frost. Whatever suits the thematic prose. While the decision this time might be out of my hands, I only need to convince Mon Amour or my Trusted Associate to agree to this new hire. Thankfully time is on my side in this matter.
Besides, this Mr. Octo has something I want. And I will do whatever I need to do to get it. Although, even if Mr. Octo doesn’t want to share, I’m sure I won’t need to hold on too much longer. These things, you see, they have a way of working themselves out.
Yours to be,
M. 646
