MANAGER NO. 1
Well, that didn’t go exactly as planned… Sort of a good news bad news situation. Good news is we still have the Pearl and Leviathan is none the wiser. Bad (or maybe Bad?) news is the Sunkenman was killed. Or. Huh. Hard to say really, but I’d say killed. Alkahest + Living thing usually doesn’t end well. So yeah, basically we stayed pretty much hidden (unlike EVERY OTHER TEAM COME ON GUYS) so we just saw what went down. Leviathan and Jut’tax cornered the Sunkenman he, uh for obvious reasons, didn’t give them the Pearl and Leviathan had Jut’tax kill him. Brutal.

Here’s the strange bits, although we were already starting to piece it together ourselves… that wasn’t the Sunkenman. Or, at least, not entirely the Sunkenman. That was Agenor or at least that’s what Leviathan called him. Agenor is a figure in Greek mythology and clearly a being from the Otherworld. A genuine son of Poseidon which helps explain why there is confusion over the Sunkenman’s lineage. So the Sunkenman is a boogieman from Mayda which is uncommon but not terribly interesting and Agenor is an Otherbeing who at this point in time clearly lacks a corporeal form. Or not. Hard to say. But Agenor definitely got away while the Sunkenman was not so lucky.

So that leaves the one big question: Where does Leviathan think the Pearl is now? I guess, also, why does he want it so bad? Power? Eh. Envy? Now there’s a thought. Typically Leviathan only does things that his siblings have also done so… Well, nevermind. That’s just speculation.

Another piece of the puzzle has revealed itself. Blood. One of the most important liquids in the universe. The conduit between flesh and soul. Before Leviathan slaughtered the Sunkenman he asked if his blood was truly his. When the Sunkenman/Agenor replied that his blood was that of the devil Leviathan went ahead with melting him. So that tells us something rather interesting… Leviathan needs Olympian blood in conjunction with the Antekey. I can only assume we too need Olympian Blood.

Perhaps it is what Mosi’vego was trying to convey to Manager 5… perhaps specific Otherbeing blood “awakens” the Keys. We know now that the Pearl is not the full key, so perhaps with a few drops of Olympian blood it will guide us to the next fragment. Or, if that fails, surly blood is what binds them together into a whole key.

Ah, and that reminds me, we are, or were, dealing with two customers this whole time. The Sunkenman of Algiers and the King of Tyre Agenor. Not only that, but Leviathan seems to know Agenor in a more personal manner. We are just now learning that there is an Otherworld, but from the way Leviathan spoke it would seem that he, and possibly the other Princes, have known for some years now.

The Otherworld is indeed a strange phenomenon which calls the entire Unified Otherside Theory into question. How are these mythological figures real? And not only are they real but they seem to have a history with demons. And why is it that only just now they’ve come to the Flipside? For that matter, where is the Otherworld? We’ve adapted to this strange new reality fast but still… there is so much we do not know of this world or what other worlds are out there.

How did Leviathan manage to find the Elder Jut’tax? Everyone is so busy worrying about the Otherworld but no one has stopped to ask the questions that we can at least try to answer.

Leviathan, the Demon Prince of Mayda, gathered three very powerful Elders in arguably a short amount of time. Now, of course, Leviathan’s “role” among the Princes is to guard the Black Tide, a prison of sorts for Elders. So, you must be thinking, “well that’s how he got these Elders, he just paroled some of them from the Tide.” That’s not the case. Elders are… complicated. Not every Elder is in the Black Tide and not every Elder is a threat.

So, first, the easiest to understand… Mosi’vego, the Gimcrack of the Court of Angels. I’m not sure if they’re actually welcomed in the Court of Angels or they were cast out, but that’s where they’re from. Back in A23 we called these “Wandering Angels”, because well they tend to wander about. I don’t know how Leviathan knew where to find Mosi’vego but also I don’t know what Leviathan does and doesn’t know. Could have been as simple as a rolodex-type situation. We know that Nom de Plume has had run-ins with Mosi’vego so perhaps there’s a link there.

Next up, Zehhurozzm, the Primordial Ape. Not really anything too surprising here. We’ve (well, the Florida Branch of CaD) have dealt with Miss. Zeh before. Got his powers from drinking the Primordial Soup. Has lived for an unknowable amount of years and cycles. As far as we can tell his sole motivation at this point is to collect rare items. The rarer the better, and you have to consider “time” doesn’t really apply to him so you can only imagine the rarity of his collection. Miss. Zeh has worked for the Dark and so it’s pretty understandable he’d work with Leviathan too if there was a worthy prize up for grabs.

Now Jut’tax. Jut’tax, Jut’tax, Jut’tax. That’s where things get… weird. We’ve known about Jut’tax for a while now, but only as a legend. Jut’tax is the result of Alchemy, which you could argue is also how Zehhurozzm came about too. Alchemy is either the most mundane of the supernatural arts or the most dangerous and there is no in-between. When you mess around with the code of the universe you’ll either change very little or break the entire code. Jut’tax breaks the entire code. No one is sure exactly what happened but basically a frog heart was soaked in an unknown substance and then Alkahest was poured over it. The heart didn’t melt and instead created a sentient being made of Alkahest. Jut’tax. Now that was the rumor anyway, no one really knew if it was true or not. In fact many, including myself, figured it couldn’t be true. A being that melts whatever it touches would eventually melt the whole planet. And after seeing Jut’tax in action, that’s exactly my fear. Wherever it walked it dissolved. I don’t know if Jut’tax was in the Black Tide and Leviathan just decided “yeah, let’s go nuclear” and let it out… or… what. Maybe… maybe Jut’tax is an Otherbeing Elder? I mean, a myth comes to life, sure fits the Otherworld M.O. We can only hope Leviathan knows what he’s doing, because as we saw last time, playing with Elders can quickly get out of hand. Or fin. Or whatever he has.
