While #62 has been working out a way to reconjure (is that the right terminology?) the House on Dracula Drive, I’ve been doing research into Mr. Mayne and specifically the theory that they are cryptids from the Caelus region of the Infernus. The Caelus itself is a strange place, a sort of sub-plane where all desires are manifested, and I think that might be part of the puzzle as to why Augustine needed Mr. Mayne to resurrect Madeline Saturn. Now, as I understand it, the most likely hypothesis is that Madeline Saturn’s soul was, in a way, digitized and placed inside Dr. Crow’s Temporal Torus. This has left her without a body, but this wouldn’t necessarily “kill her,” right?
Assuming her soul was digitized in such a way that it could be restored, a body would be needed. Now, I can’t say I’m an expert on body, soul, and spirit connections—it’s a little out of my fields of study, and from what I’ve gathered, the whole area of soul studies is still in a rather nascent stage for the greater supernatural community. However, it is not unreasonable to assume that you can’t just put any soul into just any body. I would imagine it works almost like an organ transplant—if you were to jam a foreign soul into a likewise foreign body, it would reject it, surely. But what if… Mr. Mayne can manifest a new body?
Let’s assume that Mr. Mayne is indeed a cryptid of sorts from the Caelus. What if its power involves the manifestation of desires, specifically related to bodies? It would be a rather niche use case, though maybe it had more functionality back when Caelus was… whatever it was before it was tied to the Infernus. Perhaps due to the nature of wantlessness and instant desire manifestation, bodies could end up… corrupted or displaced? And thus, Mr. Mayne could bring back a body that had been lost?
