Summary of Receipt

71 hires a proxy to spy on Satan’s church service. Satan’s aware of Eve’s release, though seemingly hasn’t met with her yet. He also wants to open the Gates of Hell, without using the Seven Keys of Hell (Vainglory, Avarice, Misanthropy, Dejection, Voracity, Sorrow, and Avidity, each Prince had one, after Lucifer and Asmodeus died the Cold got their Keys) and combining them into Hubris. His plan seems to be to use ‘true sinners’ instead of the Keys.

I’ve heard of fire and brimstone preachers before, but this might be a stretch farther. Unlike Padre’s prior parish, it would seem that Santos is leaning into the fact that he is, in fact, a demon lord of great terror. Interesting angle. Though, considering how different the cultural climate is from the 90s, perhaps this is exactly what people are craving. A strong charismatic leader telling them exactly where to direct their unfettered and unfounded wrath. Well, that, and Padre has continued to taint his followers with his blood. And that is concerning, to say the least.

Of course, none of us were able to attend this Sunday’s sermon directly. Padre knows all of us a bit too well for that. So, I hired a proxy to go and relay the information back to us. It would seem that through veiled allegories and alleged metaphors, Padre is well aware that his mother, Willow DeWeaver, is in a state of returning. It would seem that Padre has not had any contact with his mother since Eden’s botched reappearance, but it can be hard to decipher between his double talk. It would also seem that Padre has taken up a particular fixation on the Gates of Hell. This is, of course, nothing new considering his last attempt to open them back in 1999. However, one line, in particular, stuck out to my proxy: “The Gates of Hell are locked, but the true sinners do not need a key.”

As far as I know, the Gates of Hell can only ever be opened by combining the Seven Keys, Vainglory, Avarice, Misanthropy, Dejection, Voracity, Sorrow, and Avidity, into their true form—Hubris. Though it would seem that Padre has a plan, or perhaps a hopeful wish, to break open the Gates of Hell without Hubris. And to do this, he needs “true sinners.” Perhaps he is referring to his parish, who have been consuming his demonic black blood for at least six months now. The pieces aren’t quite coming together yet, but they are making themselves known at the very least.
