RECEIPT AS OF: 9/23/01
BARISTA ON DUTY: ROMANO
RECEIPT FILED AS: AND-SOL-04
I might’ve followed Lungo to his clandestine meeting. He chose me to be his replacement for a reason, after all, didn’t he? There’s only one person who is crazy enough to follow Shaka of Zulu to clearly a members-only meeting in the deepest, darkest pits of the Everdark. And while I probably shouldn’t betray his trust by putting what I heard at said meeting into a receipt, I can at least write down what I saw and file it away into an unknown corner of the AND Channel. Consider it leverage if we ever need to use it against Shaka in the future. Though… that probably wouldn’t be a great idea, would it? We’d have to be in some seriously burnt coffee to need that.
Anyway, Shaka was meeting with a whole host of very dangerous people. From what I could see, there were a lot of familiar faces: The Dark Triad, Hatman, Redman, and Mothman, the mad gameshow host, Complexico, and the constantly, constantly, constantly looping Indrid Cold. And there were a lot of faces I didn’t recognize. Though—the one who stuck out to me was, you guessed it, the stranger who has been following us around and trying to tell us about the Labyrinth and its secrets. However, when I saw her this time, she looked noticeably different—but the smell was still a dead giveaway.
So, what was this Legion of Doom even discussing? …eh, like I said, I probably shouldn’t say. Not that I don’t want to! But Shaka can probably tell if I do. Indrid Cold could absolutely tell if I did. I can probably safely say the big picture of it: the Apocalypse. Or, well, the Apocalypses. Plural. Always fun. Love the world constantly almost ending.
But, uh, hey… Jenni. If you’ve found this or I’ve decided to share it with you, I just wanted to let you know I’ve got your back. I know Shaka is… well, he’s morally gray at best. Even though I’m working for him, I am not him, and I’m not his puppet either. To be honest, I’m not sure what I’m doing other than trying to keep things from going Detroit 1972. We’re… small. Small compared to everything else that’s going on right now. Between Shaka, Asmodeus, Astrid… Fate. We’re not in a good spot. But the Cafe and Diner never has been, has it? It’s only ever been shilled that way.
