“Half Canadian, Half American.”

Clue

Hover over the clues if you require!
Clue 1: What, in CaD-lingo, is a Canadian?
Clue 2: And 'American'?
Clue 3: So a half-demon, half-human. Is there a term for those?

Answer and Explanation

Answer: Cambion
Explanation: A ‘Canadian’ is a demon (don’t take that out of context) while an ‘American’ is a human. A half-human, half-demon is a cambion.

Summary of Receipt

17 apologises for his severe and continuous lapse in judgement and hopes he hasn't stained the CaD's reputation. The silver lining is that they now know what Abigail Hawthorne is: a Cambion, daughter of Satan. It also explains the strange readings - she had no paper trace because she was raised in the Hauntaurskald, yet because she's half-human (or maybe more than half, whatever) she doesn't have a demon's Blood Signature. Still, Cambions are extraordinarily rare. Though there are many asexually-produced 'children' of Princes (like Belphegor's Ouroborians and the ruler of Mayda's Tempest), having a flesh-and-blood child would be incredibly dangerous, halving the Prince's power. So Abigail Hawthorne may well be the Cafe's chance at killing Satan.

I am… I am sorry for what came over me. I became obsessed with finding this missing connection. It consumed me like something I had never felt before. And… and I did some things I am not particularly proud of. I sincerely hope that my actions will not taint the reputation of the Cafe and Diner moving forward. Still… I suppose it was one of the Owner’s famous “half-successes” in the end. I finally know what Abigail Hawthorne is. She is a Cambion. A half-demon and the daughter of Satan.

It certainly explains why I was unable to find any record or mention of her as a human—she likely was born and grew up in the Hauntaurskald. But consequently, she lacks the Blood Signature of a Demon, Angel, or Elder because she is at her core—human. Half human, at least, but more human than demon, I suppose. I hadn’t even considered the possibility of her being a Cambion, especially the daughter of a Prince of Hell, as… well, no such thing has ever been recorded.

The Princes of Hell have few true flesh and blood offspring. Of course, there are many “children” of the Princes, created by means other than sexual reproduction. Ouroborians are a prime example, as they are asexual creations of Belphegor. There are also a few demonic descendants of the princes. Leviathan, I believe, has a son who rules over the Tempest. But… half-human descendants would be… foolish. It would be a horrible mistake even if conception could even occur. The Princes are the simulacrum of their Planes of Hell, and having a child would directly weaken a Prince immeasurably—it would practically split their power in half. As such, I believe Abigail might not be the threat we once assumed her to be—she might just be the key to defeating Satan.
