Unidentified Cult Leader No. 4 (Jericho) dropped by unannounced today. He was looking to thank Twain for the 8-Ball, though, all things considered, she wasn’t really in the mood for conversation. We ended up chatting a bit about Fenrir, and it seems like No. 4 is convinced there’s no point in saving him. I’m hoping we can prove him wrong.
No. 4: Oi, I remember you. You were with, uh, “Shaka,” yeah? Weren’t one for conversation, though. Don’t reckon I caught your name.
Blackwood: Oh, uh, real name… or?
No. 4: Oh, makes no difference to me, love. I’ve never personally gone by my real name.
Blackwood: Really? Oh, well, I’m Blackwood! Nice to meet you for the second time!
No. 4: Blackwood, is it? Like Felix Blackwood?
Blackwood: He’s my great uncle.
No. 4: I see, so you’ve got that Blackwood magic, then?
Blackwood: Eh… not so much. The Blackwoods haven’t been allowed to practice in New Orleans since—
No. 4: Right. Taboo. Well, you could always start now. Not exactly in the Big Easy anymore, are you?
Blackwood: I’ve thought about it… but Mercutio’s already our main magic user. Plus, he actually studied under Felix.
No. 4: Mercutio… izzat little Ichy?
Blackwood: Mm-hm!
No. 4: Damn, you’ve really got quite the Cafe together, haven’t you?
Blackwood: Oh no. We’re no Cafe.
No. 4: Choice. Cafe-adjacent. Anyway, is your Shaka in? I’ve been meaning to swing by to thank her for the 8-Ball.
Blackwood: Oh, she’s… well. She’s dealing with… a lot.
No. 4: I see. Probably not the time, then. Still trying to deal with Jules, I take it?
Blackwood: That’s part of it, yeah.
No. 4: He won’t go down easy. He’s doing this to save Joy—she was like a sister to him, you know. Suppose that’s my fault, what happened to her.
Blackwood: Do you think… we could save Joy?
No. 4: Not without making some unsavory deals, choice? I’ve thought about it. Honest. All my options led me back to that wretched widow, Eve. Do you think Jules—
Blackwood: —Would work with Eve? He is.
No. 4: Damn… No one survives working for her.
Blackwood: Well… maybe they’re working together and—
No. 4: No. You don’t work with Eve. No one works with Eve. You work for her until you’ve done your part, then she kills you. Morbid, Satan, Mammon, it doesn’t matter who.
Blackwood: We can still try and save him.
No. 4: I just hope he ends up with Nikki. Right. Well, I’ve got work to do back home, and you lot have your hands full. Give Shaka my thanks, yeah? I’ll swing back around once things calm down a bit.
Blackwood: We’re still gonna try.
No. 4: I know. Oh, I know. Just don’t lose sight of those who aren’t already damned.
