While 3311 was out wrapping up biz w/ our fam in the area, Ray, from division X-Ray, came 2 our door. He had a "bill" 4 his clean-up w/ Mrs. Honey. He said he wouldn't tell the rest of A23 what exactly happened or our involvement in this case, but he still wants payment 4 the clean-up from the big number. I don't know how much he charges as the bill is in a sealed envelope & I'm 2 scared 2 open it. He seemed like he would know if I took a peek.
Uh… also, he said I should make sure u all know how much I care about u. So. I guess… I just wanted 2 let u all know that.
S.O.T. Ray: Hey, kid, here's the bill. 3113: Bill? Ray: Yeah. Not from Astoria… mm… not directly from Astoria, anyhow. I don't work for free. 3113: Ray? Ray: The one and only. Now, look, I'll keep this little stunt off the books from my employers. I don't have to tell Alfa every little detail of every mess I clean up. But I'll still need your employer to pay my fee for this clean up. 3113: … Ray: Not much of a talker, are you? 3113: No. Ray: Mm… I get that. Though, you know, these are the halcyon days, kid. Make sure you let your friends know how much you love them. Or allies. Whatever you Cafe kids call your real friends. 3113: Why? Ray: It's generally a nice thing to do? 3113: No… What do you mean by halcyon days? Ray: It's uh… well, it's sort of a period of calm and peace before— 3113: I know what the term means. Are you threatening us? Ray: Me? Threaten? You? No, kid, you've got this all wrong. I'm just a glorified janitor. But I've seen enough of these gore-fests to know things don't stay pretty forever, do they? And not everyone who dies is a deranged pawn of some long-sunken Elder. 3113: Charlotte… Ray: She didn't really make a habit of saying 'goodbyes' or 'I love yous' much did she? And now she's gone-gone. Of course, she wasn't all there either, but hey—see what I'm saying? This business you’re in, there are times of calm and times of crisis. You don't know who will make it out of the crises, so tell your coworkers how you feel now. Even if you think you already know they know how you feel, it's always nice to be reminded. Oh!
