So today, being Wednesday and all, No. 323 called the House to the Flipside, and I got some interesting data about it and how No. 71’s powers interact with it. So for this experiment, I figured I’d do a pretty even spread of measurements, both Flipside and Otherside in origin. The Flipside measurements were either inconsistent or inconsequential at best, which is to be expected when you’re not dealing with something from the Flipside. The only really interesting thing is that the presence of the House causes a slight drop in temperature of about 10 degrees Fahrenheit. Which at least points to an endothermic process.
As for the Othertech readings, the Blood reading came up nil, so the House is not a recognizable entity of the Otherside. We can also assume that No. 71’s powers are not from the Otherside either. Both No. 71 and No. 71, when using her powers, didn’t trip the blood scanner. I also did a Dreamwave scan, and that didn’t turn up anything out of the ordinary, so it’s not hypnagogic either. And the last tech-based option I had was the BaristaTech CAFE (Cyclical Adjusted Frequency Encoder) scanner. Which was guaranteed to give us something, but it’s still not super helpful. Just raw data. However, we can use that raw data to find other matching “Phantom” energy sources.
The Phantom energy is very strong near the House. But interestingly enough, it is also pretty strong near No. 71 and No. 323. Even when the House was dispelled, the Phantom energy was still present with both of them. And, as you might expect, when No. 71 uses her powers, her Phantom energy reading increases. But so does No. 323’s. There’s some connection between them and the Phantom energy. But this is where the limitations of Othertech and our normal tech are at. Because this is all very not-Otherside, there’s only so much I can actually find out. We probably need to shift to a more metaphysical method of examination. Side note, Blood reading also came up zip for Hauntaurskaldian Blood, so Dover hasn’t been near the House at all. No clue where he’s at.
