No. VI has been taking me places lately. He wanted me to write a receipt to document his innocence. Whatever that means. I like writing receipts, though. It’s fun. It’s like a group journal. There’s some strange comfort in it. I’m still not exactly sure what I am or what I’m supposed to be. Aevhir. That’s all I know. Well, that’s perhaps a bit dramatic. I can breathe. I can read. I can write. There’s still plenty I do know, but there’s an even greater aching emptiness that I can’t quite place.
That’s why No. VI wanted to take me places. He wanted to see if anything sparked a feeling or memory within me. Nothing yet. At least, nothing significant. Bits and pieces come back, but I can’t construct them into anything meaningful. Sometimes when it’s quiet, I hear bursts of sounds. Tunes and melodies that my brain is trying desperately to remember. Or maybe my consciousness is trying to destroy whatever these songs were to me.
It seems like it takes everything you’ve got just to make it in this world. This break has been nice, though, and it sure has helped a lot. It’s nice to get away. Though I’d love to be somewhere where I have a name. And everyone would know it, including me. Maybe one day. One day I’ll have a name that is truly my own. And hopefully, everyone will be glad I came, and everyone will know my name.
