Summary of Receipt

71 and Phantom Lane discuss Phantom and 71’s special powers. Apparently, the Phantom Lane is filled with doors all over the Sphere, and Phantom wants 71’s help to open them. However, doing so increases the Cold’s influence in the Sphere. So they’re supposed to reach some sort of balance in making sure enough doors are open, and yet not empowering the Cold that much. (i think. it’s pretty hard to interpret). She also says that the CaD should focus on dealing with Mr. Bartlett, since he’s already been opening more doors than would be preferred.

Hey CaD people! Been a while since my last receipt… what has it been like a month now? Jeez I need to be more active. Or proactive. Or reactive? Or maybe just practive. Not that I haven't been busy, of course. I am, after all, the second in command at the Palm Beach Cafe and Diner! Which… is admittedly less impressive when you realize I'm actually more like fourth in command. But, but, but, I have been called on by name by none other than one of our friendliest of friends, THE PHANTOM. Why? Well, it's uh, complicated. Or maybe just a secret. Or maybe a bit of both.

Me and Edgar were able to have a nice little sit-down over coffee to discuss e v e r y t h i n g. Listen, we all know that I am "different." That I have "powers" of a sort. And it doesn't take a genius to put two and two together. My special talent is what the Phantom is interested in. I mean, the last time a friend of the Cafe used my powers for their gain was to resurrect the House. The House which we learned a few days ago is tied to the Phantom Lane. The Phantom Lane is a pocket dimension that is a part of the Phantom. So, it's not really that unusual that the Phantom wants me for their plans. I know, I know, "what plans??" While I'm not under the same scrutiny as the zealots of Secret, I… still probably shouldn't cross the Phantom or their trust right now. Not to mention... I don't totally disagree with their stance on some things? What I can say is that I'm still team CaD above all else.

I can also say that the Phantom is looking to "open doors." What doors? Well turns out the Phantom Lane is full of doors. Doors that go all over not just the cycle but the sphere. More doors opened, the happier the Phantom is. The problem with opening doors is that they let in… a draft. Drafts aren't good. They make everyone COLD. Okay? So we have to deal with these drafts before things get too Cold. If things get too cold, then SOMEONE will shut the doors for us, which is bad. Once the doors are open, we have to keep them open or else. I know. I know. Complicated. Kinda a secret. Can't say too much. Not yet anyway. Point is! Mr. Bartlett. We need to deal with Mr. Bartlett ASAP. He's already dropped the temp a few too many degrees for comfort.
