Summary of Receipt
The CaD successfully manages to stop Mrs. Pleasant, with only minimal damage. The sigil was supposed to cause some sort of explosion in a random mall. While it seems random on Earth, in Hell it leads to a ritualistic monument. Or, well, it led to said monument on 9/28/95. Not really sure now. The Owner then questions why ‘they’ would want the Hotbed to be undefended and cause ‘warmer temperatures’, before refusing to elaborate since they’re being watched. He signs off with ‘So remember to smile’ - a possible reference to Cold?

THE OWNER
As always, my trusted associate was right, and Mothman was attempting some sort of ritualistic sigil magic most likely to conjure a disaster. We were able to more-or-less thwart the Mothman's plan with a minor hiccup or two along the way. The "crux point," as Felix calls it, was atop the South Coast Plaza. We must have been close to the other four focal points as the biggest disaster the Mothman could conjure was an exploding transformer above Bullock's. I couldn't tell if the explosion was the disaster or some sort of backfire on Mothman's end. Perhaps Mothman's disaster ritual will still work but localized only to Bullock's stores. Not that I already know the fate of Bullock's, of course. Just a fun guess.
Now more on the "why" Mothman was attempting to conjure a disaster. I see it in one of two ways. Either Mothman needs to conjure a disaster to refill its powers Flipside, or Padre has it out for a mall in Costa Mesa. Just kidding. I was able to see briefly where Mothman was targeting on the Otherside using my Blighted eye. The South Coast Plaza just happens to line up with a ritualistic monument in the Otherside today. If Padre was indeed the one to order this "disaster" from Mothman, I'm sure it must be tied to the monument. Obviously, it's somewhere in the Hauntaurskald, but I couldn't place the exact area. Once the Otherside shifts back to that position, I'll have Jenni help me check it out. It should be the 26th-27th if my calendar is right. Worst case, we might need to wait until Feb 13th. I'll see if my eye will corporate tomorrow, but don't expect miracles from it. Jenni's powers are still developing; otherwise, I'd have her check it out tomorrow while the Otherside is still in position. But I have a feeling with Hermes slithering about, her powers will blossom sooner than expected, hopefully by the end of next month. Assuming that's what they want anyway.
Ah, that reminds me. Hamilton. I wasn't... expecting... that. And... damn. A bleak reminder that I can't possibly save everyone. Try as I might. I have some... thoughts on Hamilton's untimely death but I can't really say much about that here. I'm not even sure I can tell my most trusted associate what I am thinking. I will say this much, with Hamilton out of the picture that certainly weakens the Hotbed's protections. A weaker Hotbed could lead to warmer temperatures. Much warmer. But why would they want that? Or why would they think they want that? What do they think they can do? I know the vague pronoun cliche is annoying, but I'm unsure what can and can't be said, even in text among us. We're being watched.
So, remember to smile.
A grinning man himself,
