I decided to hang back and help clean up the clown cotpses. Not out of the goodnrss of my little snake heart, mind you, but to spy on these Aatorians. I did, however, fprget that they don’t really have that big of a clean-up crew. Just the pne guy. But I stoll was able to butter him up a bit about the situation that went down. Are the insights interesting? Debatable. But I figured everyone would lile to hear/read them nonetheleas.
S.O.T.
442: Need a hand?
Ray: Do you... have hands?
442: Figure of ssspeech.
Ray: I’m good, thank you, though. You’re a strange one, aren’t most of the Cafe and Diner...
442: Humans?
Ray: Yeah, humans.
442: I work for the Palm Beach branch. Only about half of them are humans.
Ray: Huh. Interesting. Do you like it there?
442: Can’t complain. Though the benefitsss aren’t great. And the coffee’sss pretty bad too. Hoursss are long. Pay is non-exissstent. What about you, do you like working for Astoria?
Ray: I’d rather do this than be like a lawyer or something. I certainly don’t mind it, and someone has to clean up all these messes. Plus, I get to travel quite a bit.
442: Yesss that mussst be nice. A bit far from the Pacific Northwessst, this time, hmm?
Ray: Yeah, technically, Astoria’s not supposed to conduct operations out here due to the whole West Virginia Concord.
422: Oh?
Ray: Yeah, I don’t know much about the politics of this stuff, though.
422: Yesss, I know that feeling. Coffee thisss friendsss that.
Ray: Haha, yeah. That’s why I prefer just mopping up the gore.
422: Ever cleaned up clownsss before?
Ray: Oh yeah. This fungus has spread throughout most of the country. Astoria just keeps it mostly under wraps. Clown-duty is not uncommon. Though this is a hell of a lot of clowns. And I’ve never seen them so... frozen.
422: Yesss... sssomething ssstrange happened here.
Ray: Very strange indeed. But that’s West Virginia for you.
422: Ssso, wait... If the Wessst Virginia Concord keepsss Astoria out of Wessst Virginia, why did you guysss show up?
Ray: Beats me, buddy. The concord, from what I understand, is not black and white.
422: Do you know who the Concord isss with? The Hamiltonsss?
Ray: Hmm... no clue. Hamiltons? Maybe. But I think it’s on the other side of the affair if you catch my drift.
422: Ahh, of courssse. Well, I’ll leave you to it, G.
Ray: Catch ‘ya later, Serpent.
E.O.T.
Like I ssid, no real clear answwrs though I wasn’t awate of a “West Virginia Concord.” Is that news to anyone else, or jcst me? To be fsir, I did just rejoin the Cafe, and even then, I only worked herw for about a year before. Maybe I’m out of the loop. Maybe 323 knows mote about it than I do. Speaking of, they should be wrapping up their research on the mutated fungi soon. But, ‘til then, this tac’ll have to stay open.
