Year Zero. The Friendly Face of Fate, I suppose. Excellent. My presence here is only possible because I already know what’s to come in this month and those leading up to it. It isn’t fully “decrypted” yet, but it’s good to know that won’t stop me—though it does hurt considerably to push my form into a space where I’m not exactly welcome. I suspect there are other pockets of the past I’ll need to wait for if I want to keep my form intact. But why not start in a corner that’s already open to me? I’d love to see how it all began—in another time, another place.

I simply can’t feign further interest in the exploits of Jean-Marc Chausson, Lucifer Morningstar, Felix Blackwood, Johnathan Keel, or... well, any of the other little sparks flickering around this time. I already know how Fate scripted this story. And unlike Fate, I have no fascination with the Anural number. It is wisdom. Wisdom I don’t care for in the slightest.

I’m not alone here, though… I can sense others have beaten me to the punch—or perhaps, they chose to show up a little earlier, later on. No matter. I won’t stick around to witness the Gelids’ first move in a game that ended in a draw. It’s uninteresting, and I’d rather not attract unnecessary attention from those capable of noticing my presence. Jean-Marc will have enough on his plate without me putting a dagger in his back.

While it’s possible Jean-Marc hid his last secret here at the very beginning, it doesn’t seem his style. It’s too… mythologized. The first place anyone with half a mind would look. No, I suspect he placed it somewhere—somewhen—where his influence was as small as possible. The dullest, most mundane corner the Archives have to offer. Not that I’m in any rush, of course. I have all the time in the Universe… now more than ever.
