They would&#039;ve gotten back to me eventually. But even if those stiffs at the Society or those kooks at the Coven bothered to check out my &#039;sumé, I probably would&#039;ve turned them down. Real talk—it&#039;s not coffee if isn&#039;t from the Cafe and Diner. That&#039;s a bit of &#039;cation—a bit of truth for ya.<br /> <br /> Yeah, yeah, it&#039;s true. All the rumors you&#039;ve heard, all of them are true. I was lined up to be Employee No. 1119. Certain of it. There were multiple occasions when the old Cafe needed my special &#039;tise—they would&#039;ve been absolutely lost without me. And I was this close to being a full-time employee. Then… ya know. Boom. Which… on the one hand… lucky I didn&#039;t die with them. Actually, that&#039;s what I&#039;ve been up to these past few years. I&#039;ve been trying to dig into the big million-dollar question: who lit that damn match? I&#039;ve got a few theories, a few&#039; lations and &#039;nations cooking up. Though… it&#039;s probably neither here nor there, seeing as we&#039;re officially back in business, baby!<br /> <br /> &#039;Scus made the right choice in hiring me, that&#039;s for sure. No one knows this business better than I do. No one can quite see the meaning hidden in plain sight like I can. But ya know, it&#039;s not my whole life or anything like that.
