I heard about what happened to Zeh. Shame. I mean, he was, by all accounts, not a very good monkey, was he? Fact is, he’s probably pulled similar gruesome stunts with others before. But… still. Not often a greater cosmic entity is murdered, ‘specially not the kind who is supposed to be “immortal.” Honestly, I’m not sure what else we can do at this point… they have the heart, and they clearly have the power to stop anyone who gets in their way, so what should we do? Once they get the heart working, they can crack Joy out of her crystal and let the Universe come to its violent end. Funny, inn’t? Jean-Marc will go out with his greatest strength—using other people.

Doom and gloom aside, I’m not too fussed about the ending of everything, all things considered. Let’s put it this way: I fully, very confidently believe that no matter how much those pompous Bingo players mess up the Universe, this one, the next one—whatever—that things’ll work out, choice? See, they can do what they like, rig their little cosmic game in their favor, but I know for a fact that they don’t have the power of eight. ‘Course, I have no clue what the power of eight really does anymore, but I’ve always had the impression that it could bring light to the darkest hour… or some such nonsense like that.

And that is my job done. Kept the greatest power out of the hands of lunatics and likely ensured a brighter future… even if it’s going to take a few more spins around to get things right. I reckon that’s the futility of it all, yeah? On some technicality, I’ve done this cosmic dance sixteen times over, and I suppose I wouldn’t mind going around sixteen times more. The Big Guy’s right. Small, steady improvements are all it’ll take. Now—if you’ll all excuse me, I’ve got some business to attend to before the end of days. Been a right pleasure, all things considered.
