There you have it, folks, back at Astoria. Jumping Jehoshaphat, I was not expecting to be back under the Lighthouse so soon after quitting. Though I guess, for what it's worth, we're technically in a different position than we were in last year. For those who might not know, me and the most beautiful creature to walk this universe, No. 44, we used to primarily work for the ol' Lighthouse gang. We were never official agents of Astoria, but we were their primary third-party consultants for assessing risks of the unknown. Hard to find supernatural actuaries. These days, I'm guessing they're getting their paranormal insurance through the Myerscoughs. Which, by the by, is some of the worst insurance I've ever seen. You want to get scammed, buy Myerscough. If not those fickle felines, then, I don't know, probably some shell company run by the Zulus. You work for Astoria long enough, and you'll eventually see that everything is either Alfa or Zulu. All the other divisions are just set-dressing. Okay, okay. That's not entirely fair. All the divisions have a role. I think little Red already spelled it out for you, but I can explain it a bit more in-depth. Especially seeing as some of you kids might not know what all the divisions actually do here.

So, first, off you have the A-G class of Alfa, Bravo, Charlie, Delta, Echo, Foxtrot, and Golf. These are the bosses basically or the "head" divisions. Alfa isn't really much of a "division" as she is just a single person. Well… "person." She's one of those "Indigo Children." Special kids with superpowers or something like that. I couldn't tell you what she is or what they are specifically, but they're connected enough to basically be running the "free" world. Then you've got Bravo; they're on "Cosmic-Level" cases. A good example is when uh, what's-her-number, the new 8, she and her team got sucked up into a different cycle. They had Agent Webber on that case, and he's a Bravo. Then you've got Charlie, who is like a watered-down Bravo. They're on "Intracyclical-Level" cases. So past, present, and future of just our cycle. Then you've got Delta on "Region-Level" cases, so North America, Asia, Europe, stuff like that. Getting smaller, you've got Echo who is in charge of "Area-Level" cases, so towns and cities. Next up, you've got Foxtrot on "Individual-Level" cases, which is basically the same thing the Cafe and Diner does, think customers. Finally, in the upper-ranks, you've got Golf in charge of "Lower-Level Cases" think weird happenings that are nondescript in nature.

Then you have H and I. Smallest distinct bracket but also the two largest divisions by a long shot. Hotel makes up the field agents for Bravo-Echo, and India makes up the field agents for Foxtrot-Golf. Think "A23 Goons." These guys, gals, and other pals in black suits with aviator glasses and shiny lapel pins tend to cause all the problems. They're also the most statistically likely to encounter a workplace injury or mishap.

Okay, now the big chunk of J through S or the "special" divisions. These guys are mostly research types and don't typically get out into the field all that often. Juliett is catch-all "Magic," Kilo is catch-all "Demons," Lima is A23's resident "Psychics," Mike looks into matters that are "Temporal," November is on "Elder Research" duty, Oscar is focused on "Metahuman Transcendance," Papa is on the fringe with "Pseudoscience Research," Quebec is catch-all "Cryptids," Romeo is their "Otherside Research" division and finally, Sierra looks into "Othertech, Nanotechnology, and Emergent AI."

Then you've got the rest of A23. Tango is the division me and No. 44 are most familiar with as they are under "Third Party Affairs." These cats coordinate all sorts of weirdos like myself with the Agency's affairs, and they are also in charge of mediating this merger. Uniform is the Agency's "Disinformation" division, similar to our No. 2312 and No. 53's primary roles. Their whole job is to keep the Agency and the Supernatural under wraps. Victor is in charge of "Information Technology" or, as I understand it, keeping the computers running and all that stuff. I think there's also some sort of spy-versus-spy thing going on between them and No. 62. Then you've got Whiskey, "Undisclosed Lower Branch Affairs," which is a really grandiose way of saying they're Human Resources. Then, of course, the most important branch is X-Ray, who is in charge of "Clean Up." Then Yankee tackles "Archival and Paperwork," also known as the desk jockeys. Statistically, their most common injury is papercuts and back strains, poor sons of guns.

And lastly, Zulu. Officially recognized as "Cult and Esoteric Affairs." The funny thing about them is they ARE a cult themselves. A real bunch of weirdos. You ever wondered why it's called Astoria 23rd Agency? It's because there are 23 Divisions excluding X, Y, and Z. X-Ray is technically a third-party hire, just like we used to be, no official tie to Astoria. Yankee is closer to the CIA or FBI than they are to Astoria; they're sort of an in-between for the surface Government and the real Government. Then there's Zulu. Zulu is a force unto itself. They have no obligation to Astoria and tend to just work on their own weird, weird projects. They basically are just sharing office space and resources. Kind of like we are now, I guess.
