What a strange creature… The good news, I suppose, is that we’ve finally found our… hm… let’s put this delicately, shall we? I’m not sure if speaking ill of the cryptid’s appearance might incur its karmic wrath. But yes, we’ve found our delightfully unique-looking customer, Mr. Andros. He is—how to say… unusual to behold. La dame was not joking about his spider-like qualities, especially up close. He resembles a tawny owl, with two pairs of four of those black, doll-like eyes and two wings, but also—of course—more than seven slender legs. Beneath his feathers is a hard, chitinous body.

Much to my dear friend’s disappointment, the Chickcharney doesn’t appear capable of intelligent communication. However, it does produce an impressive range of supersonic frequencies and clicks, possibly a language akin to Sonocetian. Unfortunately, it’s not a language any of us can intuitively understand, not even la dame. Without a way to directly communicate that we’re here to help—and that la dame is the mistress of his homeland—it’s been tricky keeping the Chickcharney from flying off in a panic each time we approach. I can only hope it doesn’t take this as some form of disrespect.

We’ve been careful not to push too hard with our spidery owl customer, hoping to avoid any accidental curses of misfortune. We’ve tried to retrieve the Chickcharney twice: the first time we startled it, and the second it spotted us approaching from quite a distance. Personally, I don’t think we’ve offended the cryptid yet… though, of course, I am no cryptid myself, eh? Still, we’ll need to figure something out, and soon. The longer the Chickcharney remains in the Flipside, the greater the chance it falls into the hands of Juliett, Lima, Oscar, or—heaven forbid—Papa.</span>
