…That’s rather strange. Not a single one of my connections within or even around the House of Satan was willing to talk to me. I couldn’t even get Rasputin to budge on details of what Satan is working toward, and he’s working for us as I write this! This… this is my living hell. Can you imagine me being, as the kids say, "ghosted"? It’s almost too much to bear. I feel like I’m in the Twilight Zone.

Hysterics aside, this does not bode well for us. Perhaps Satan learned his lesson after his first attempt at taking control of the Flipside, and he’s drastically shortened the leash on his House and those near it. Or maybe he hasn’t learned a thing, and the orders are coming from higher up. Or would it be lower down with him? This level of fear and control is not typical of Lord Satan… but perhaps it’s typical of his mother, Eve. If that’s the case… we have little time to waste.

In the ’90s, Satan wanted to free his father, the Devil, from the Gates of Hell. It seems like Satan in the 2020s has the same goal, and it must align with his mother’s as well. To break out her former lover. To settle the cosmic debts. I don’t believe she’s doing it out of love, of course, but out of a sense of posterity. That, or she wants another ally in her corner when she goes up against the big man himself. The reasons aren’t terribly important right now because the Devil breaking free really only means one thing for the Universe—a rewind. A restart. But this time on God’s terms.

…Perhaps… Perhaps No. 26 and No. 44 should pay the Prince of Wrath a visit. See what they can learn from him. It’s dangerous and will needlessly dirty the Cafe’s hands, but what other choice do we have? Every damn connection refused to speak with me… Every single one. Can you imagine that? <i>Even I.O.U.s meant nothing to these monsters</i>.</span>
