Looks like I’ll have a chance to put my theory to the test sooner than anticipated. What theory? Well, that’s currently between me and the other Managers, choice? That coffee is still piping hot, and I wouldn’t want to burn anyone’s tongue off with it. And while I am fairly certain this will work, I wouldn’t mind a bit of cosmic confirmation. So if any of our more forward-thinking staff could check in on it, that’d be aces. 6 is already in on it, but for the rest of you, just think pieces of 8, yeah? 

Hell, I’ll open the floor to everyone on this. If you are a patron, customer, friend, whatever, who has a strong sense of, well call it “intuition” on these kinds of things, I could use your help. What do you make of the following passages?

A: “When shall we three meet again in thunder, lightning, or in rain?”

B: “Within the circle of this light two figures sat at a table - one with his hat tilted slightly, and one leaning sideways in his chair in a careless sort of attitude. They seemed to be playing cards, and they were strangely white - for they were skeletons.”

C: “Line in nature is not found; Unit and universe are round; In vain produced, all rays return; Evil will bless, and ice will burn.”

Those oughta spark up something in someone. If not, well, we’ll find out soon enough, choice? 6, 1313, 1, 17, 44, 161, you lot seem to be the most tuned into this kind of stuff. The_Librologist: Yeah I definitely feel... something from these lines but I can’t exactly describe it. I’m kinda forward thinking I suppose but my intuition isn’t as good as you guys Y’know? But yeah there’s something I feel from C... I don’t know.

Shrinking Violet: B sounds like it's lifted from... incidentally, Pieces of 8, by Richard le Gallienne. An Unfinished Game of Cards, the chapter's called. Seems like someone wants another round with you guys.

Huorn_Cal: A and C are interesting... but something about B is unsettling. The game is unfinished because they are dead, but I can't help but feel like another hand is about to be dealt.

The_Librologist: Me again eheh. A is Macbeth, from a scene in which three witches meet. B, as Violet pointed out, is indeed from Pieces Of Eight. C is from Uriel by Emerson. But I'm sure you're not asking for sources. Like I said, my intuition is pretty weak, but, without knowing the context... I don't know. If I had to guess, a triad may be splitting up for a while soon according to A; B could be referring to some sort of ghosts of the past coming back to haunt you? As for C, hm... maybe some sort of balance might be tipping? Eh, I'm sure you guys will be better at it than I am but those are just my thoughts.

7max18: Well, I looked it up, and the context for the three scenes is indeed interesting. A is the very first line of Macbeth, spoken by the first of the Wyrd Sisters. The second responds with "When the hurly-burly’s done,
When the battle’s lost and won." In other words, if The_Librologist is right, and a triad is splitting up, they'll only be seeing each other again after a great battle. In Pieces of Eight, B occurs when the main characters, treasure hunters, find the skeletons within a cave. Evidence reveals that they had found John P. Tobias's treasure, but were killed by others mid-card game, who made off with the treasure. Now, "pieces of eight" in a CaD context have obvious implications, but it could also just signify a coming tragedy, and the stealing away of a prize. As for C, it is spoken by Uriel to the other gods, arguing in favor of circles over lines. For some reason, Uriel's statement causes outrage; perhaps C indicates a coming discord in the angelic realms? Either that or the three passages have something to do with numbers. Three witches, two skeletons (or pieces of eight?), one circle (or the shape of a zero?), you know?

Athame: C is the most interesting to me. The line comes from the poem "Uriel" by Ralph Waldo Emerson. The line is specifically dialogue from Uriel themselves. When they said that, everything seemed to go wrong. This line from the same poem was also interesting to me. "The balance-beam of Fate was bent;<br>
The bounds of good and ill were rent;". I'm not sure if this is a stretch but "ill were rent" sounds a lot like "ill-intent". Please be careful. If it's not a stretch, I don't want you all to be unprepared.</span>
